{"id":43,"date":"2018-10-07T12:55:40","date_gmt":"2018-10-07T12:55:40","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.mwhrd.gov.so\/en\/?p=43"},"modified":"2019-10-29T14:02:24","modified_gmt":"2019-10-29T14:02:24","slug":"somalia-ratifies-the-treaty-on-persons-with-disabilities","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mfhrd.gov.so\/en\/somalia-ratifies-the-treaty-on-persons-with-disabilities\/","title":{"rendered":"Somalia ratifies the treaty on persons with disabilities"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Somali government has ratified a treaty safe-guarding and promoting the rights of people with disabilities.Her Excellence, Minister of Women and Human Rights Development Deqa Yasin has signed the Convention after attending the United Nations General Assembly in New York.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYesterday was a historic day for disability rights in Somalia as we have acceded to the Convention on the Rights of People with Disabilities.\u00a0This convention will support the work that is already being done in Somalia to change\u00a0attitudes and approaches to persons with disabilities\u201d said Minister Deqa following the ratification.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBy acceding to this Convention,\u00a0Somalia is once again demonstrating its commitment the fulfillment of its obligations with regard to the rights of persons with disabilities, as stated in our Constitution, the National Human Rights Road Map and Universal Periodic Review obligations\u201d she added.<\/p>\n<p>The Convention is an international treaty that articulates the rights of persons with disabilities.
