Minister of Family and Human Rights Development Participates in the Commemoration of the Day of the African Child

17-June Mogadishu, Somalia – H.E. Amb. Khadija Mohamed Al-Makhzoumi, Minister of Family and Human Rights Development of the Federal Government of Somalia, today participated in the commemoration of the Day of the African Child in Mogadishu.

Observed annually across the African continent, this year’s Day of the African Child was marked under the theme: “Ensuring Universal Access to Water, Sanitation and Hygiene for Children in Africa.”

The event brought together government officials, development partners, civil society organizations, and a large number of children. Discussions focused on the realities facing African children, the challenges they continue to encounter, and opportunities to advance their wellbeing and rights.

During the event, the Ministry of Family and Human Rights Development highlighted ongoing efforts and initiatives aimed at strengthening the protection, promotion, and fulfillment of the rights of Somali children.

On the occasion, the Minister extended her congratulations to all Somali children and reaffirmed the importance of collective efforts to ensure access to essential services, particularly clean water, sanitation, and hygiene, as critical foundations for a healthy, safe, and prosperous future for every child.
