Mogadishu, January 18, 2025 – The Minister of Family Affairs and Human Rights of the Federal Government of Somalia, Amb. Khadija Mohamed Al-Makhzoumi, hosted a meeting with the African Union Special Representative, Ambassador Mohamed El-Amine Souef, at the Ministry’s headquarters.
Accompanied by the Director General and senior experts from the Ministry, the discussions focused on strengthening efforts toward women’s empowerment, human rights protection—particularly for children and persons with disabilities—and ensuring the safety of civilians.
Minister Al-Makhzoumi expressed her gratitude to the Ambassador for the African Union’s commitment to these vital issues and emphasized the importance of close collaboration between the Ministry and the AU to advance human rights initiatives in Somalia.
Ambassador Souef commended the Ministry’s efforts and reaffirmed the African Union’s dedication to supporting Somalia in achieving its human rights and social development goals.
