Mogadishu, Somalia – The Minister of Family Affairs and Human Rights, Amb. Khadija Mohamed Al-Makhzoumi, held an introductory and welcoming meeting with Somali women in Mogadishu. This marks her first official engagement with women leaders since assuming office on the 5th of this month. The discussion focused on introductions, experience-sharing, and strengthening collaboration.
The women in attendance warmly welcomed the Minister’s appointment, expressing their full support and commitment to working alongside her. Minister Al-Makhzoumi thanked them for their reception and emphasized the critical role women play in society, highlighting that no nation can progress without their active participation.
She further encouraged Somali women to take on leadership roles and actively engage in the country’s development, particularly in the upcoming one-person, one-vote elections. The Minister urged them to run for office and contribute to national decision-making processes, reinforcing their influence in shaping Somalia’s future.
