The Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Family and Human Rights Development, Hon. Maryan Ali Abuukar, led a delegation from the Government of Somalia to the 47th Session of the African Committee of Experts on the Rights and Welfare of the Child, held in the Kingdom of Lesotho.
The session brought together representatives from across the continent to review progress and strengthen commitments toward advancing the rights and welfare of children in Africa. In her keynote address, the Deputy Minister underscored the importance of ratifying the African Charter on the Rights and Welfare of the Child, describing it as a critical framework for enhancing the protection, promotion, and fulfillment of children’s rights in Somalia.
On the margins of the session, Hon. Maryan Ali Abuukar held a series of bilateral meetings with participating officials and partners. Discussions focused on strengthening institutional cooperation, sharing best practices, and fostering strategic partnerships aimed at improving child welfare systems and advancing child protection initiatives in Somalia.
