Mogadishu, Somalia — The Minister of Family and Human Rights Development of the Federal Government of Somalia, H.E. Khadija Mohamed Al-Makhzoumi, today conducted an inspection visit to the SOS Children’s Village Mogadishu, where she assessed the conditions, needs, and range of services provided to children at the facility.
During the visit, the Minister toured key departments of the center, including childcare units, health services, and education facilities, gaining firsthand insight into the quality of care and support provided to vulnerable children. The visit underscored the Ministry’s continued commitment to strengthening child protection systems and ensuring the well-being of children across the country.
Prior to the inspection, the Minister witnessed the signing of a cooperation agreement between the Ministry of Family and Human Rights Development and SOS Children’s Villages. The agreement aims to enhance collaboration in improving child care services, expanding access to education, and promoting the safety and well-being of vulnerable children.
The Minister commended the management of SOS Children’s Village for their dedication and impactful work in nurturing and supporting children. She also praised the children at the center, particularly the girls; for their resilience, determination, and potential.
Speaking during the visit, the Minister stated: “I conducted an inspection visit to SOS Children’s Village in Mogadishu to assess the conditions and needs of the children, and I was deeply encouraged by their resilience and promise.”
The visit forms part of the Ministry’s broader efforts to strengthen partnerships and advance sustainable solutions that protect and empower Somalia’s most vulnerable children.
